Originally founded in 1927 to provide refuge to homeless young women, Central & Cecil Housing Trust has expanded to also offer support to families and the elderly. The Trust manages 30 buildings across London, Middlesex, Surrey and Berkshire.
In 2016 C&C issued a tender for a new IT partner as the company had outgrown its current provider. The new partner needed to be able to support C&C’s growth and enable them to expand further. C&C chose Arkphire because of its experience and its central London location – close to the majority of the C&C buildings.
At the outset, Arkphire undertook security and network health checks of the IT environment. VMware Hosts and NetApp Storage were upgraded and the organisation migrated to Office 365. Wi-Fi was installed in all sites.
Arkphire also migrated C&C from a dedicated DR site in Godalming to Arkphire’s DRaaS solution, which is based on Microsoft Azure. This has drastically reduced the operational costs and has taken away all of the hardware and software that was required to be supported/managed in DR.
Subsequent to this, ongoing improvement projects have included the C&C Backup being migrated in to a low-cost AWS Glacier environment, still using Veeam. Security has also been enhanced through the use of both Fortinet firewalls and DUO 2Factor Authentication.
Arkphire uses ITIL framework which is a set of practices that focuses on aligning IT services with business needs. ITIL is used to demonstrate compliance and to measure improvement.
Arkphire now proactively manages and monitors C&C’s IT infrastructure across all sites and supports C&Cs backup and disaster recovery processes.
Arkphire provides dedicated IT help desk support to C&C and regularly assesses the ICT infrastructure with Infrastructure and Security Health Checks.
This ensures that C&C’s infrastructure is best secured from hackers, spam and viruses.
